Dear Stephen,
Just wondering how you know which herbs are safe for nursing (you answered another mom’s question by saying all herbs are in low enough doses to be fine)? Is it your in-depth knowledge of the plant’s properties? I can’t get a single LLMD/LLND to tell me which herbals I can take to help my 7 month old – everyone says just stop nursing. Thanks so much!

Stephen’s response:
Published studies and the history of use for the past few thousand years. If I were nursing, I would tend to concentrate on knotweed, cat’s claw and astragalus, which are all useful when they go into the breastmilk.
