Melatonin dose for children

I really appreciate your Q & A column. I have a question about the melatonin dose for children. I have read that a melatonin dose should be kept to 1mg – 3mg so I bought a 1mg liquid. The dose is 4ml 20 minutes before bedtime. For children ages 6 and 8, would I use the “Clark’s rule” of dividing their weight in pounds by 150 (average adult’s weight)?
I would use 1-2 drops and see how it works for them.
